A soakhole or soakpit is a means of stormwater disposal on private property to ground, rather than connecting to the Council stormwater lines. These properties disperse storm water into the ground from the house downpipes or drains.
Not all properties have suitable ground for soakage. Such as areas with high groundwater levels and areas that are in close proximity to steep slopes.
If the property is not suitable for soakholes then stormwater connection consent would need to be applied for.
