For most people the easiest way to pay your toll is by cash at the toll booth. (Eftpos is available at the Toll Plaza Office at Route K during working hours but not at the toll booths themselves).

Route K Quick Cards are a pre-paid toll card for Route K.
No struggling to find loose change! Simply hand your Quick Card to the toll booth operator instead of cash, and then drive on.
When you have no funds remaining to draw toll fees from the toll booth operator will let you know so you can purchase a new Quick Card.
You can purchase your $15 or $30 Quick Card from Council’s customer service centre, the libraries, or the Route K toll plaza office.
Note: Use of this card is governed by the Tauranga City Council Route K Toll Card terms and conditions.

e-TAGs or Electronic Tag Collection Transponders are electronic devices that stay in your vehicle. When you drive through the toll plaza a stationary reader detects the tag and authenticates it. At the end of the month you receive an invoice for the toll fees you have accumulated. e-TAGs are ideal for businesses that have trucks or fleet vehicles that use Route K regularly.
To apply for an e-TAG you need to have an existing Fleet or Imprest Account. To set up a Fleet or Imprest Account you need to complete a contract agreement form There is a monthly fee of $2 for each tag. The charge provides for the cost of tags plus replacement when the internal battery expires.
The Toll Card is a reusable, plastic bar-coded toll card. It is ideal for people who use Route K regularly. To get a Toll Card you need to apply for an Imprest Account by completing a contract agreement form. An Imprest Account is payable in advance and you need to keep your account in credit. The minimum initial toll pre-payment is $50 per card issued.
When a Toll Card user’s account has no funds left to draw toll fees from, the Toll Card will be retained and withdrawn from service by the toll booth operator.
A Fleet Toll Account allows businesses to provide Toll Cards to your staff to pay toll fees with. We send you an invoice for the toll fees they have used at the end of each month.
To set up a Fleet Account, the registered owner of the vehicle must complete a contract agreement form and you need to use $100 or more per month in toll fees.
If you are a regular user of the toll road and would like to open a monthly account please call 07 543 1132 for more information.
