The Western Bay of Plenty Sub-Regional Events Strategy 2009-14 was adopted by the Tauranga City Council on 7 April 2009 and the Western Bay of Plenty District Council on 7 May 2009.
Our Vision:
"Enabling events that celebrate the diversity of our communities from Kaimai to Coast. Recognising the social, cultural and economic benefits of events."
The Events Strategy is about enabling events for the communities in the western Bay of Plenty sub-region. This is the area from Waihi Beach and Katikati in the west to Te Puke and Maketu in the east and includes Tauranga city. The decision to develop this strategy through a joint approach stems from the fact that events are run by and attract people from the whole sub-region, as well as out of town visitors in some cases. By working together we have been able to look at the big-picture issues around events, as well as identify and build on strengths of the whole sub-region. The strategy sets out our vision and outlines the actions by various organisations to achieve the vision.
