Our culture – our arts are the substance of this place. We live in a beautiful natural environment – the sparkle on the water. But it is the people and their culture that give a place its depth.
As a region and as communities within the region, we in Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty place a lot of value on our arts and culture as a way to express our history and heritage, a way to express our identity.
We use arts and cultural experiences as a way to engage with each other, with other cultures, with visitors. And we use the arts as a response to defining moments in our lives, such as war or natural disasters.
The arts are a way to evolve our thinking – a way to develop openminded, creative and flexible approaches and solutions.... "
