The completion of the Route K expressway opened up opportunities for development of the Kopurererua Valley with potential to benefit the entire sub-region.
Tauranga City Council acquired much of the Kopurererua Valley on the basis that land not needed for roading would be developed as passive and active reserve areas.
The Council worked with Ngai Tamarawaho and the public to prepare a concept plan for the portion of the valley to be developed as reserve.
This plan is now being put in place.
