Tauranga City Council has 18km of white sandy beaches to enjoy.  There are many accessways along the coast to assist with protecting the dune system.

Tauranga City Council manages the activities on the coastal environment on land (the 'dry' bits). The sorts of activity the Council does to look after our beaches includes regular beach grooming, having park rangers and dog rangers and working closely with Coast Care.

The Bay of Plenty Regional Council manage the day to day management of the coast below mean high water springs and have plans and information on coastal management, such as the operative Regional Coastal Environment Plan and beach profile monitoring.

Coast Care Bay of Plenty is a community partnership programme, which uses local knowledge and enthusiasm to restore the form and function of the dunes in the Bay of Plenty.  Coast Care's community volunteers have planted nearly 200,000 native dune plants onto the region's beaches!
