I grew up in Tauranga, have been married to Barbara for 33 years with 3 children and 5 grandchildren. I previously served on our City Council here in 2001 and Parliament 2002−05. I believe passionately in the importance of families, local community and democracy and am committed to represent your voice. That's why I organised the nationwide petition for the anti−smacking referendum.

I want to see more democracy and less bureaucracy in a Council that understands that the welfare of its citizens comes before senseless rules, ever increasing fees and compliance costs. I strongly believe you should be able to participate more directly in some of the major decisions you are expected to pay for.

I asked for your vote because Tauranga needs an elected Council that can work more constructively together to provide our essential social services, facilities and infrastructure without neglecting the soul and spirit of the city.
